Repsol Honda Team’s Marc Marquez will try and make an astonishing return to MotoGP™ this weekend, just four days after fracturing his right humerus in Sunday’s season-opening Spanish Grand Prix. The World Champion had successful surgery on Tuesday, with MotoGP™ Traumatology Specialist Dr Mir saying the Spaniard could at best hope for a Brno return in two weeks.
This dude continues to display completely alien attributes if they clear him.
The sheer will of this guy to perform is astonishing.
Will we now have a motorcycle adage of “Fix on Tuesday, Win on Sunday”?
* Edit*
Alex Rins and Cal Crutchlow, both top riders, have been cleared to ride this weekend !

idiotic. so much risk of surgical complication for what? he’s already on a short list of best ever. Is he jealous of the adoration Rossi has?

A bit of both.
When your paycheck and professional future is at stake, with so many young kids chomping at the bits to take your job, y ou get back on the horse and ride.
But when you’re 8 times (?) world champion, I’m pretty sure you do have some leeway with your employer and sponsors, and can take a few races off and chill by the pool.
That gets to show what it takes to be a top rider in MotoGP, and that t his guy really is an alien, though.

I think the whole Covid lockdown messed with his brain TBH. I mean there’s title defense to be argued but this is madness.

Only guy who knows how bad it hurts is him. I doubt his sponsors will let him race if there is real risk.

It is a stain on his team and his sponsors that they would allow a talented but clearly (I want to not say intellectually constrained) 'diminished' individual to make such stupid decisions.

Absurd. Of course he wants to compete, etc. but someone on his team has to tell him to sit this one out.

I take issue in that Marc loves to push himself and that bike to the utmost extreme and over occasionally . I’d hate to seem him go down ( possibly taking someone else out) and be out longer , instead of taking these few weeks to heal.
If he is on that grid Sunday, he’s not going to be doing parade laps.

Dumb. With the shortened season, the winner will be the person that stays closest to the front in every race and doesn’t take any zeros. Taking a single zero in the first race means that he basically needs to win out the rest of the season. Riding like he needs to win every race is going to put him more at risk for pushing too hard and crashing like he did last weekend.
Taking another tumble could cause even more damage, ending the rest of the season or worse. It’s just not worth it.

It’s absolutely not admirable in the least bit. It puts in to question MotoGP’s Clinica Mobile. How irresponsible is it for the doctors to declare a person fit when a small low side to the arm could possibly break the plate, causing further damage and possibly an amputation. This highlights the dangers of having the medical staff as a Dorna entity. If Clinica Mobile was independent of Dorna then there would be zero pressure to have their golden boy back in the spotlight. I fear that if Marc does have a career ending crash it will taint the image of MotoGP and the trust of their medical staff.
EDIT: His return also breaks their own COVID protocol
. By their own rules, if he leaves the circuit, then there is a mandatory
5 day self-isolation. Rules for thee, not for me...
